The Maori language is an important part of New Zealand culture. Here are a few useful words and phrases in Maori to help you ......

  • Kia ora - hello
  • Ka pai - great
  • Haere Mai - welcome
  • Ka kite ano - see you 
  • Haere ra - goodbye (to someone going) 
  • E nono ra - goodbye (to someone staying) 
  • Whanau - family 
  • Marae - meeting place
